An Evening with Kevin McDonald - Featuring Stories from The Kids In The Hall

Join Kevin McDonald for an evening of “stand up” featuring stories from the legendary sketch comedy troupe – The Kids In The Hall. This show is a must-see for fans of the show!

Kevin McDonald is best known as a founding member of the legendary Canadian sketch comedy troupe – The Kids in the Hall – which appeared on CBS, HBO, and Comedy Central from 1989-1995. A revival season aired on Amazon Prime Video in 2022. In addition to the KITH, Kevin’s tv and film credits are numerous to include appearances on Seinfeld, That 70’s Show, and as a voice actor in the Lilo & Stitch franchise. Now Kevin is performing several different stage shows all over North America to include Stand Up Comedy (featuring stories about The Kids in The Hall), Kevin McDonald Superstar (A Rock Opera), and his Sketch Comedy Through Improv Workshop.

From Improv to Sketch Workshop with Kevin McDonald from The Kids In The Hall Join Kevin McDonald from the legendary sketch comedy troupe - The Kids In The Hall for a 4 hour workshop where Kevin will talk about writing sketches through improv. He will get 4 students at a time to improvise a scene. When each scene is over, all the students and Kevin (mostly Kevin) talk about how to make a sketch from the improvised scene that was just done - how to build up the comedy, build on the characters and create a story for this new sketch, we're making. Then we do the scene again, as a more prepared comedy sketch. At the end of the class, the students do improvs again and this time, work on their own to make them into sketches. Then they perform them and Kevin give them notes. *Maximum students is 16 for this workshop

With a second Trump presidency looming, and rising right wing attacks on LGBTQ rights, abortion rights, voting rights and more, we need progressive laughs now more than ever. That’s why we’re excited to present Laughing Liberally Milwaukee, a monthly progressive political comedy show featuring Milwaukee’s top liberal and progressive comedians.

Laughing Liberally Milwaukee is hosted by comedian, cartoonist and satirist Matthew Filipowicz. Matthew’s work has been featured by CNN, NPR, PBS, HBO, BBC, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Atlantic, the Nation, the London Times, Ain’t It Cool News, and the Huffington Post. Matthew also hosts the creatively titled Laughing Liberally Milwaukee Podcast.

Comedians on the January 11th bill include Kristin Lytie, Shawn Vasquez, Dana Norris, Michael Kittelson and sketch comedy troupe The Accountants Of Homeland Security.

In addition to some of the finest progressive comedians Milwaukee has to offer, each Laughing Liberally Milwaukee features a special interview with a local activist, journalist, or political figure. This month’s guest is Monique Liston from Ubuntu Research And Evaluation.

Since 2008, we've been bringing people together with theater and comedy in a way that's approachable, collaborative, and fun. With local favorites such as the Sketch 22 guerilla comedy event, and Shakesparodies, the Milwaukee community has come to embrace the productions brought to life by Schmitz n Giggles. Schmitz & Giggles is donating to Rescue Gang to help continue saving dogs lives.
